In late 1999, IPS began assembling a network of well-known progressive
scholars and theoreticians to enlarge and enrich the Institute's work.
Through the crystallization of existing relationships and the cultivation
of new ones, the Senior Scholars program expands the Institute's reach
in both gathering and disseminating new ideas.
Senior Scholars participate through periodic gatherings, collaboration
with existing IPS projects, and a worldwide electronic network, and have
access to office space at IPS when in Washington.

Xabier Gorostiaga was a founder of Policy Alternatives for Central
America and the Caribbean and is currently Executive Secretary of the
Jesuit universities of Latin America.
Andrew Levine Formerly at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he is currently Research Professor in the Philosophy Department at the University of Maryland- College Park.. He is the author of nine books including The American Ideology: A Critique, and he has published articles in The Journal of Political Philosophy, Economics and Philosophy, Socialism and Democracy, Ethics, New Left Review, and Economics and Society.
